In a speech to Melbourne's Press Club on Tuesday, Mr Howard drew on comments made by Rupert Murdoch, chairman and chief executive of News Corporation, owner of News Limited, the publisher of The Daily Telegraph. "We should, in the words of Rupert Murdoch, 'Give the planet the benefit of the doubt', given the potential dangers of climate change,'' Mr Howard said. Mr Howard said Australia's climate change policy had to be "rational'' and "far-sighted'', adding that ignoring nuclear power as one solution would be "an act of economic and environmental folly in the extreme''.
