The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) represent the consensus of the world’s scientific community. In 2007 the IPCC reported that most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in greenhouse gas concentrations due to human activity. When the IPCC described this as very likely, they considered that the probability of this was more than 90%.
