Trees remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and turn it into compounds such as wood and leaves. This provides a method for storing carbon from the atmosphere. There is some argument as to whether carbon stored in trees or wood is a temporary or a semi-permanent solution. It can be said that although trees provide one method of removing carbon from the atmosphere they are not the only solution that will be required to permanently address global warming successfully.
