FY2016 Environmental Footprint achievements

News Corp Australia’s latest carbon footprint figures have been released, showing significant reduction achievements in all reported emission areas. The company achieved a carbon footprint reduction of 5% from FY2015 – FY2016, meeting its annual reduction target. News’ carbon footprint has now reduced by 39% since 1 Degree started in FY2006. Emissions arising from electricity, transport fuel, natural gas and air travel have been reduced significantly, as pictured in the image below.
All News Corp Australia’s major print sites achieved the company’s goal to achieve zero waste to landfill by the end of 2016. The four major print centres in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide achieved a diversion from landfill to recycling of more than 96%, well exceeding the Zero Waste International Alliance definition of Zero Waste of above 90% diversion from landfill.
