Small steps add up to big change on Walk to Work Day

10/11/2013 1:16 AM

Hundreds of pedometers went walking out the door of News Corp Australia offices during National Walk to Work Day in November 2013.

Run by the not-for-profit organisation the Pedestrian Council of Australia, the initiative focuses on building small habits into your life that make a big difference to not only your health, but also your environmental impact.

Our staff got involved by catching public transport to work, organising a breakfast in their office for walkers and commuters, and distributing 1 Degree pedometers to their teams to encourage walking. The Sunday Times and Perth Now office in Western Australia creatively placed large footstep stickers around their office that led to information about Walk to Work Day.

Staff entered a national competition by sending in what the 1 Degree motto of “small steps add up to big change” meant to them. Many creative and outstanding entries were received, including images, photos and stories.
