To add an interactive element to the event and extra engagement value for Expo visitors and News’ staff, workshops were held throughout the two days of the Expo. Sydney Organic Gardens held composting and worm-farming workshops while the Bower Reuse and Repair Centre held mosaic workshops on Day 1 and furniture restoration and upholstery workshop on Day 2.

The Expo featured a circular marketplace area with pop up stalls from Vinnies Shops, Upcycle Studio and the Elephant Emporium‘s recycled range. The marketplace also had a “Book Swap” stall with books donated by The Australian and NewsLifeMedia, and a large fruit and vegetable station where Expo visitors and passers-by could pick up free samples of Woolworths’ Odd Bunch Range.
